Pro-Training Berlin

"Professional Training"

(Certificate of higher education)

Follow your passion and become a professional drummer

We bring drummers from across the world together to pursue their dream of becoming a professional drummer. Over the years, we have crafted a unique curriculum with our hand-picked selection of world-class trainers to give you an intensive 12 month (or 24 month) course that you simply won’t be able to find anywhere else.

You’ll study everything from classic technique, to working with electronics, studio and band training, marching drums, tuning workshops, percussion, how to market yourself as a professional, as well as music theory and aural training. Everything you’ll need to become a pro!

The Drumtrainer network reaches far and wide in Berlin and we are also able to connect you with musicians, universities, students and industry people- many of our former students are in fact teachers at Drumtrainer! This isn’t a journey that stops once the course finishes. We try to do whatever we can afterwards to help our students find work in Berlin and abroad.

You’ll also be able to have an incredible experience immersed in drumming in Europe’s cultural hub as part of our drum family. And it really is a family! You’ll often find yourself spending days studying and evenings exploring the music in Berlin with your fellow students and teachers!

Once you pass your final exam at the end of the course you will be awarded with a certificate of higher education awarded by the Berlin School of Popular Arts (SOPA) worth 30 credit points.

There are maximum 10 places available! So if you are any bit curious about turning your passion for drumming into your career and life then hit the button and get in contact with us:

Pro-drummer

part-time in 12 or 24 months

regular timetable: Profi-Training (PT)

The training lasts one year (two semesters) and is divided internally into four quarters with eight teaching units. As a rule, classes are spread over two days plus seminars in music theory occasional. The lessons last 30 to 90 minutes. Digital teaching materials and video courses are provided on Drumtrainer.Online as a supplement to regular lessons. It makes sense to live in or near Berlin during this year. The courses start yearly every October.

Intensive timetable: weekend Pro-Training (PTW)

The professional training on weekends (24 months) has the same contents and credit points as the professional training (12 months). However, the lessons are taught as weekend-long intensive classes once every two months. Classes take place every two months on an intensive weekend. Digital teaching materials and video courses are provided on Drumtrainer.Online as a supplement to regular lessons. The lessons are arranged so that, as a rule, arrival is possible on Saturday and departure on Sunday (approx. Saturday from 10:30 - 21:30 and Sunday from 09:00 - 17:45). So it is not necessary to live in Berlin. The courses start in the beginning of each year.

Admission Criteria

An entrance examination must be taken. The exam tests styles (e.g. rock, pop ballad, swing) and grades (e.g. Ted Reed). We recommend all drummers to take part in the free and non-binding test training after making an appointment with us. Here we can best discuss your level of proficiency and your goals. If you can't come to Berlin, we can arrange a Skype foreplay or you can send us songs as videos by e-mail.
